nobigdeal #01 finally printed and circulating
Fanzine I am included in by Thomas Minnock
Degree show space with folder work handed in for assesment. However i will be making a number of handmade tiled cubes to stack up in the space which will be for sale as individual works as well as collections of tiles.
Installing more work in my degree show space, however i still intend on working on a few of the tiles above the sink, as well as using my tiled boxes to sit in-front of the sink.
I also want to play about with my smaller tiled works, by using them somewhere in the space but as separate artworks, so that the public can purchase individual tiles as opposed to larger interiors.
Due to the show being held in a Dance Studio we wasn’t allowed to use anything other than blue tack on the walls so this made me explore using my tiles on a plinth with a word in the background.
However i wanted to play with the space so i used the mirrors in the venue to show some of the work that wasn’t visible from the front. For example i placed two tiles intentionally on the back of the plinth so you would experience these but from the reflection of the mirror. It was interesting as well for the tiled box as it meant all sides were visible from any angle you stood due to the reflections so there wasn’t a need to place the plinth in the centre of the room.
Few photos from a group exhibition i took part in.
One-evening-only 3rd Year Art Exhibition.
The private view is 5 - 7.30 pm and involves eleven third years from NUCA and one third year (History of Art student) from UEA. The aim of this exhibition is to be an experimental precursor to our Degree show, and includes an amalgamation of different practices of innovative, original sculpture, installation, portraiture, paintings, and projection.
I am taking part in a group exhibition in Norwich tomorrow at a dance school in their studios. Therefore i intend on displaying the word JUBS on the wall with tiles and a plinth in the foreground displaying my tiled box with a small collection of tiles surrounding it.
This is the plinth in my studio space where i was playing about with specific tiles to work out a collection to exhibit tomorrow. However i will take these works from this photo and play about with them once in the space and then decide on the final outcome of this work. I might even consider using the sides of the plinth to display some of the tiles that i want to show in contrast to the ones in stacks.
